Popular Nigerian comedian Seyi Law has applauded Bola Tinubu, stating that his administration pulled Nigeria back from the edge of economic collapse.
He made the remarks on Friday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention in Abuja, where he expressed strong support for the President’s leadership and ongoing economic reforms.
Seyi Law noted that President Tinubu assumed office at a time when the country’s financial situation was in a critical state but has since made significant progress in stabilising the economy.
“This is a man I am willing to stake everything for, because he brought Nigeria back from the brink of economic collapse when our net foreign reserve stood at barely one billion dollars,” he said.
“But today, we are talking about about 40 billion dollars in net reserves and over 50 billion dollars in gross reserves.”
The comedian also defended some of the administration’s most debated policies, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market.
He described the decision to end fuel subsidy as a bold move aimed at tackling corruption.
“On the first day of his inauguration, he struck corruption by stopping the fuel subsidy regime,” he said.
According to him, allowing the naira to float has helped bridge the gap between official and parallel market exchange rates.
Speaking on education, Seyi Law praised the government’s efforts in reducing strikes in tertiary institutions and rolling out student loan programmes.
He added that the administration has recorded one of the shortest strike durations in recent times while also providing financial support to students.
The entertainer further noted that close to one million students are already benefiting from the loan scheme, alongside monthly stipends.
He also highlighted investments in technical education, pointing out that some federal technical colleges now offer tuition-free learning, with students receiving stipends.
In addition, he referenced major infrastructure projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Highway as clear signs of ongoing development under the current administration.
