Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has opened up about her upcoming studio album, describing it as a reflection of her growth both personally and artistically as she steps into a new phase of her life.
The 23-year-old singer shared this during an appearance on Apple Music Radio Takeover, where she discussed her creative evolution and willingness to explore new sounds.
According to her, the project captures her transition into womanhood, marked by a clear shift in her sound and overall artistic expression.
“I’m literally becoming a woman, and you can hear that in my music now. I’m growing sonically and I want to try different things, just put myself out there and have fun while doing it,” she said.
Ayra Starr also admitted that she once became overly serious about her music but has since found her way back to enjoying the process.
“I kind of lost the plot a bit and took it too seriously. It was never that deep,” she added.
She explained that her third album is focused on rediscovering the fun and freedom that originally inspired her musical journey.
“I brought the fun back, and we’re enjoying ourselves,” she said.
Although the album title has not yet been revealed, Ayra Starr has already dropped a lead single, “Where Do We Go,” ahead of the expected release later this year.
