JAMB Extends Direct Entry Registration Deadline to May 8

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for the sale of its Direct Entry (DE) application forms, giving prospective candidates additional time to complete their registration.

The new deadline has been set for May 8, 2026, according to a statement issued on Wednesday via X by the board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin.

The board explained that the extension is part of efforts to ensure that all eligible candidates have sufficient opportunity to participate in the admission process into tertiary institutions.

“As part of measures aimed at ensuring that no Direct Entry prospective candidate is denied the opportunity to access tertiary education in the country, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has extended the sale of Direct Entry, DE, application documents to 8th May 2026 from the earlier closing date,” the statement read.

In addition to extending the deadline, JAMB also approved the establishment of five new registration centres to improve access and reduce congestion in areas experiencing high demand.

The newly designated centres include the Centre for Open and Distance Learning (CODL) Mini Campus at the University of Ilorin in Kwara State, Bells University of Technology in Ota, Ogun State, and Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.

Other centres are the Prof. Usman E-Learning Centre at the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo, and the Human Development Initiatives (Grace House) centre located in Iwaya, Sabo, Lagos, which began operations on April 30, 2026.

According to JAMB, the addition of these centres is expected to ease pressure on existing facilities and provide candidates with more convenient options to complete their Direct Entry registration.
