FG Begins 168-Room Hostel Project at UNILAG

The Federal Government, through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), has initiated plans to build a 168-room modern hostel for medical students of the University of Lagos.

The project, located within the Lagos University Teaching Hospital in Idi-Araba, is aimed at improving student accommodation and supporting the training of more healthcare professionals in Nigeria.

Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of Colton Construction Limited, Dr Anthony Ajulo, described the facility as a major upgrade for student housing at the institution.

“This is a modern, ultra-modern student hostel. It is self-contained.

It is going to have 168 rooms, and it is three floors. And it is going to be the first of its kind in a long time at UNILAG. This is in line with the Federal Government’s objective of increasing the number of medical graduates and doctors that will be produced,” Ajulo said.

The project is expected to be completed within 24 months and will accommodate two students per room, helping to address accommodation challenges in Lagos.
