PENGASSAN Suspends Strike Against Seplat

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has suspended its industrial action against Seplat Energy following progress in negotiations over workers’ welfare.

The decision was communicated in a notice circulated to union members across its branches nationwide after renewed discussions with the company’s management.

According to the union, the suspension came after Seplat addressed key concerns raised by workers and made commitments regarding the ongoing negotiations for the 2026 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

The breakthrough was also supported by the intervention of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, which facilitated dialogue between both parties.

“Following constructive and productive engagements between PENGASSAN, Seplat Management, and relevant stakeholders, led by the Executive Vice President, Business Services, NNPCL, on the ongoing 2026 CBA negotiations, we are pleased to inform you that Seplat Management has provided written commitments addressing the demands of the Association,” the notice stated.

The development signals a temporary resolution of the dispute, with expectations that ongoing discussions will lead to a more lasting agreement.
