No fewer than 2,300 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) were officially sworn in on Friday for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream 2 orientation programme in Anambra State.
Speaking at the ceremony, the State Coordinator, Pauline Ojisua, disclosed that the figure comprises 1,080 male and 1,220 female corps members.
She noted that all necessary facilities and logistics had been put in place to ensure a seamless and impactful orientation programme.
“The orientation course is the foundation of the one-year national service.
“Corps members will undergo a three-week programme, designed to instill discipline, patriotism, teamwork and other competencies required for nation-building.
“Activities, such as military drills, physical training and sports will also enhance physical fitness, mental alertness and team spirit among corps members,” Ojisua said.
She further emphasised the importance of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, noting that it would equip corps members with practical skills to support self-reliance after their service year.
Ojisua congratulated the participants on their deployment to Anambra and urged them to adhere strictly to NYSC regulations as well as security guidelines.
In his address, Governor Chukwuma Soludo encouraged the corps members to render dedicated service to both the state and the nation, urging them to conduct themselves responsibly.
The governor, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth Development, Ifeatu Emeodi, also commended the leadership of the NYSC at both national and state levels.
He praised the state coordinator and her team for their professionalism and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upgrading camp facilities to provide a safe and conducive environment for corps members.
