Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, have arrested two individuals suspected of involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery activities in Ondo State.
The arrests were made in Owo, the headquarters of Owo Local Government Area, according to the Corps Commander, Adetunji Adeleye. He made this known while presenting the suspects at the agency’s headquarters in Akure.
Adeleye further disclosed that several other suspects were arrested in different parts of Akure, particularly around the Oloko axis, during a week-long clearance operation conducted across the state. He noted that the exercise was carried out through coordinated efforts involving multiple security agencies.
According to him, a total of 164 suspects were paraded during the exercise, with various stolen items recovered. He explained that 144 of the suspects were arrested for offences related to breaches of law and order. Other cases recorded include one incident of rape, 15 cases of human trafficking, and one violation of the state’s anti-open grazing law.
Providing further details, he said:
“One Godwin was arrested over alleged murder and rape. Other suspects include Azeez (30), accused of arson and escape from lawful custody, alongside Ademola, Imole, and Japhet, aged between 26 and 32, who were arrested for offences ranging from conspiracy and abduction to assault on security personnel.
” Emmanuel (38) and Ibrahim (20) were apprehended for conspiracy, breach of peace, and possession of stolen motorcycles. Emeri and Moses were also arrested for allegedly aiding human trafficking and defrauding unsuspecting victims in Akure.”
The Amotekun commander emphasised that the operation reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen security and curb criminal activities across the state.
