Akon has opened up about his past romantic life, sharing that he found it more enjoyable and less complicated when he was involved with multiple women.
Speaking in a recent interview with The Shade Room, the 53-year-old singer reflected on how his lifestyle has evolved over time, particularly after moving into a more conventional, one-partner relationship dynamic.
According to him, his earlier experiences offered a level of excitement and simplicity that he now finds lacking.
“My life was much easier when I had multiple women surrounding me. But being with just one woman isn’t as exciting,” he revealed during the interview.
When pressed about his current relationship status and whether he is still involved with multiple partners, Akon chose not to provide specifics, responding humorously:
“I plead the fifth; it will be incriminating to answer.”
The comments follow his widely reported divorce from Tomeka Thiam in September 2025, which brought an end to their 28-year marriage. The union produced a daughter, Journey.
Akon, whose real name is Aliaune Badara Thiam, has previously spoken about his views on relationships and family structure, including his support for polygamy. In earlier interviews, he acknowledged fathering multiple children and maintaining relationships with different women over the years.
Reports have also linked him to several women, including Rozina Negusei, Amirror, and Tricia Ann Thiam, though details of those relationships have largely remained private.
