Dangote Refinery Denies Petrol Price Increase Reports

Dangote Refinery has dismissed reports suggesting that it recently increased the gantry price of petrol.

The 650,000-barrel-per-day refinery issued the clarification on Wednesday through a statement shared on its official X account, amid speculation that the company had raised the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit by N75 to N1,350 per litre.

Reacting to the reports, the refinery maintained that there had been no adjustment to its petrol pricing structure.

“Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited has revealed that the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) remains the same, stating that its ex-depot price remains unchanged,” Dangote Refinery stated.

The clarification comes at a time of continued volatility in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum market, where petrol prices have been fluctuating in response to rising international crude oil prices.

Global crude prices were reported at around $95 per barrel on Wednesday, contributing to sustained pressure on fuel pricing in the local market.

Over the past two months, petrol prices at retail stations across Nigeria have risen significantly, increasing from about N900 per litre in early February 2026 to between N1,365 and N1,375 per litre in several locations.

The development has continued to fuel concerns among consumers and businesses already grappling with rising transportation and living costs.
